Coordination of Benefits (C.O.B.)
What is Coordination of Benefits?
When you have two or more insurance coverage policies, your coordination of benefits, or C.O.B., is the order in which they will be processed. Your insurance companies use this in order to know how to correctly process and pay on your claims.

For additional information regarding C.O.B., please contact patient financial services at 919-938-7159 and select option 3.
Why do I have to update it?
Making sure your C.O.B. is up to date ensures your claims get paid. Having an incorrect C.O.B. can result in denied claims, delayed payment, and the full bill becoming your responsibility.
How do I update my C.O.B.?
- Call your insurance company. Call your insurance companies to ensure the proper order is reflected in their system. You can find their numbers on the back of your insurance cards.
- Upload into MyChart. Did you know you can scan your insurance cards into MyChart? This is an easy way to help you and your providers stay up to date on your insurance.
