Johnston Health to offer monoclonal antibody therapy

Starting October 18, Johnston Health in Smithfield will offer monoclonal antibody therapy from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m. seven days a week. Patients who test positive for COVID-19 and have mild symptoms may call 919-938-7749 to schedule an appointment or ask questions concerning eligibility.

To be effective, the therapy must be administered within 10 days of a person’s first symptoms. Monoclonal antibodies are lab-produced molecules that help your body fight off the illness. They can restore, boost or imitate your natural immune system.

The therapy is given by a nurse through a shot. The injection takes 20 minutes to complete. Treatment is followed by 60 minutes of observation.
