Chest Pain Coordinator Named Ambassador of the Year
Joe Bowman, RN, a chest pain coordinator, has been named the Johnston Health Ambassador of Year for his outstanding performance, dedication to co-workers and patients, and exemplary service to the organization.
The senior leadership team chose Bowman for the top honor from among the monthly Ambassadors selected from April 2020 to March 2021. For the award, he will receive a paid day off and a weekend getaway at a bed and breakfast.
During the presentation, Smithfield Mayor ProTem John Dunn read aloud a proclamation highlighting Bowman’s work, attributes and personality, and declared May 12 as Joe Bowman Day. “I feel honored to make this announcement,” Dunn said. “You are certainly deserving of this award.”
In his role as chest pain coordinator, Bowman gathers the supporting data for the hospital’s accreditation as a chest pain center. He helps evaluate charts, provides feedback and offers suggestions for improvement. He is also the stroke coordinator and the liaison to Johnston County EMS.
In the hospital, he helps create educational tools, and teaches stroke and cardiovascular lessons to new co-workers. When needed, he helps out in the cath lab and the intensive care unit.
Out in the community, he teaches hands-only CPR at community and school events.
For his part, Bowman said the award reflects the work of his team. “I couldn’t do what I do without the efforts of so many others across the organization. I’m not alone in this award,” he said. “I feel grateful to be part of Johnston Health and the work that we all do for our patients.”
Bowman and his wife, Tiffany, live in Fuquay-Varina, and he has a 17-year-old daughter.
Through the ambassador program, Johnston Health recognizes employees who go above and beyond the call of duty. They deliver quality care, foster teamwork, and offer excellent service.
