How You Can Assist Johnston Health

As we take steps to prepare for and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, many of you are looking for ways to help. Johnston Health has a variety of ways for community organizations, corporations and individuals to make donations to help protect workers and patients in our county.

Give to the Johnston Health Foundation

If you aren't able to provide supplies, but still want to help, please consider making a donation to the Johnston Health Foundation's One Community. One Response. COVID-19 Response Campaign. Your donation will be deployed where the need is the greatest to ensure patients continue to receive quality health care close to home during this time of crisis.

In-Kind Donations

Thank you to all those who have graciously donated supplies. We are still accepting supplies, but are ending our drop-off sites to encourage staying at home and social distancing. If you'd like to donate items, you can contact our Corporate & Community Outreach Coordinator, Leah Johnson, at Leah.Johnson@unchealth.unc.edu, or by calling 919-938-7194.

Currently, the hospitals most urgent needs are:

  • N95 masks
  • Surgical masks
  • Surgical masks with shield
  • Nasal swabs for medical use

Other needed items include:

  • Disinfectant
  • Eye protection, including safety goggles/glasses
  • Face shields
  • Gloves, disposable
  • Gowns, disposable
  • Hand sanitizer, greater than 60% alcohol
  • Hand soap
  • Shoe covers, disposable

Homemade Items

If you have any homemade items you'd like to donate, please contact Farrah Nguyen at farrah.nguyen@unchealth.unc.edu, or call her at 919-938-7117.

Masks

Thanks to the outpouring of support from our community who have already donated homemade masks. If you are making masks for our health care workers, please make sure they have the pocket in them for a filter to be placed in them. Click here for an example.

Headbands

Wearing protective masks around your ears for long periods of time can be uncomfortable for many of our health care workers. Homemade headbands with a button on them allow for the elastic to go over the button and not directly over the ears. Click here for a video tutorial.

Meal Donations

If you or your business would like to donate meals to our health care workers or make a donation towards meals, please first contact Farrah Nguyen at Farrah.Nguyen@unchealth.unc.edu or by calling 919-938-7117.

Front Line Appreciation Group (FLAG) of Clayton is working with local restaurants to provide meals to our employees. If you'd like to make a donation towards this please email ClaytonFeedsL.A.G@gmail.com, or call Melissa Brown at 432-813-0352.
