Johnston Health Receives Highest Rating for Safety
Johnston Health, which has hospitals in Smithfield and Clayton, has earned back-to-back “A” safety grades from The Leapfrog Group. The rating highlights the health care system’s commitment to reducing errors, infections and accidents that can harm patients.
Johnston Health was one of 832 hospitals in the nation to earn top marks in the Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2017 report card. The health care system also earned an “A” on the spring report card.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient-safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Nationwide, 832 hospitals received “A” grades.
