What is a registered dietitian?
A registered dietitian (RD) is a food and nutrition expert that educates and equips individuals to create a healthier lifestyle through choices regarding food and eating behaviors. An RD is qualified through successful completion of national licensing exams to help individuals manage diet-related health conditions, as well as guide the general public in a food-first approach to wellness and disease prevention.
Alongside the HQ dietitian, individuals set achievable health goals, and establish strategy to reach and maintain them.
One-Hour Nutrition Assessment
The initial nutrition assessment serves to establish a relationship between the client and dietitian through a discussion of food intake patterns, habits, food and drink preferences, diet-related medical conditions, and other concerns.
Clients are encouraged to bring food logs, a notebook, labs of concern, and even a support person. Depending on the client’s need and intention for the assessment, a meal plan, recipe ideas, tips and tricks to create new habits, etc. are typically distributed.
