A Success Story – The Hospice House Campaign
In 2010, the Foundation raised $4.5 million to build the SECU Hospice House located on Hospital Road in Smithfield. This is the first hospice house in Johnston County.
Providing end of life care to a loved one is an emotional and demanding job. Some families have the time, resources, and desire to keep their loved ones at home, but others do not. For many families, the best decision is to bring their loved one to a place where they can receive 24/7 care, so the family can focus on spending quality time together in comfort and peace. The vision for the SECU Hospice House was to provide this place, and with the tremendous support of individuals and businesses in the county, we were able to make that happen.
With the support of the Johnston County community, we raised $4.5 million to build and furnish the 18-bed inpatient center. Over the past few years, this service has made end of life care more manageable and peaceful for countless patients and their families. Our doctors, staff and volunteers at the SECU Hospice House help lessen the burden of caring for a loved one, so that families can spend their final time together in comfort.
Funds from this campaign are still being used for capital needs at the Hospice House.
