About UNC Health Johnston
UNC Health Johnston has been improving the health of the people in its communities since 1951. During its largest-ever period of expansion, from 2009 to 2015, the health care system opened a hospital in Clayton and modernized its original hospital in Smithfield, representing a total investment of $256 million. Together, the hospitals are licensed for 179 acute care and 26 behavioral health beds
Aligned with UNC Health Care since February 2014, UNC Health Johnston employs 2,000 people. The medical staff has nearly 400 physicians.
The system also includes primary care offices in Clayton, Smithfield and Kenly, and the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
