The UNC Health Johnston Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) program is designed for two residents and offers a 52-week postgraduate curriculum with training opportunities in a variety of acute care and practice leadership settings. Residents will rotate through several patient-care settings where they will enhance their ability to provide safe and effective pharmaceutical care while being under the supervision of a clinical pharmacist.

Deciding which pharmacy residency program is right for you can be a stressful and difficult decision. As a potential residency candidate, know that our preceptors are committed to working alongside pharmacy residents to provide an outstanding and highly rewarding post-graduate pharmacy residency experience. We welcome any questions you may have and look forward to receiving your application to our program.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to train highly motivated, team-oriented pharmacy residents who will further enhance the practice of pharmacy. Our program will contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists, helping them become eligible for board certification and postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. We will fulfill our mission through hands-on clinical practice, practice-based research methods, and the education of others.
