UNC Health Johnston RN Incentive Program
Eligibility Requirement:
- CN II, III, IV; must have 12 months or more of RN experience
- New Graduate RN (CN I) will be eligible for the New Grad Commitment Incentive provided they have successfully passed the NCLEX.
- Employed full-time, scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week.
- Employed in a direct patient care RN position.
- Clinical Areas: Smithfield & Clayton facilities-Inpatient (see*) Surgical/OR, Procedural (see*)
- Not currently employed or employed within the previous 12 months at any owned or managed entity within UNC Health Care System
- Not currently employed as a current per diem, temporary at any facility within the UNC Health System.
- Employee must remain in good standing throughout the commitment period. If an employee receives a final written warning, the incentive will be discontinued.
- UNC Health Johnston PRN staff that transfer to a full-time UNC Health Johnston position, will be eligible for the commitment incentive options in approved areas.
Incentive Expectations:
- Employee must be in active status at the time of installment payment; otherwise, the payment will be cancelled. Remaining installment payments may resume upon the employee’s return to active status.
- The work commitment is to UNC Health Johnston.
- Employee may be allowed to transfer and maintain the incentive if the receiving department is eligible and approved by the accepting manager/director.
Incentive Options:
Please note: New hires may receive either Tuition Loan Assistance OR the Commitment Incentive, listed below, at the choice of the new hire. Relocation Assistance and/or Employee Referral may be offered in conjunction.
Examples: if the new hire receives the Commitment Incentive they may also receive Relocation Assistance and participate in the Employee Referral program, but cannot receive the Tuition Loan Assistance.
Tuition Loan Assistance
Up to $25,000 may be offered to defray the cost of tuition to obtain an already earned Bachelors or Masters nursing degree. The amount offered is based on proof of outstanding loan. Payment is spread over 3 year period in 6 installments. Payment is made after each 6 month period of work is completed.
- Effective for hires starting on or after 6/28/2021.
- Ends-TBD to be re-evaluated by administration.
Employee Referrals
We are actively recruiting experienced Registered Nurses to fill vacancies in all bedside patient care departments. We are asking for your assistance in this effort. If you refer a relative, friend or neighbor, who is licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina, has a minimum of 2 years current nursing experience, and that person is hired for employment at Johnston Health, you may qualify for a referral bonus.
To be eligible for a referral bonus the following guidelines apply.
- You must be actively employed in a regular full-time or part-time non-management position at Johnston Health. Employees in a manager level position or above are not eligible for the bonus.
- Be currently employed at the scheduled time for payment in order to be eligible to receive the bonus payment.
- Employee Referrals: -Current employee will receive $3,000 for referring a qualified hired RN candidate in the following departments: ICU, PCU, Med-Surg (2nd and 3rd Clayton, 2nd BL, 3rd floor, 4th floor Smithfield), L&D, ED, Women’s, Behavioral Health, OR, & Endo.
- Current Employee will receive $1,500 for referring a qualified hired RN candidate in the following departments: Interventional Radiology & Cath Lab
- Payment is made in two equal installments. First 6 months after new hire start date and second at one year completion. Program start and end date is ongoing.
- Bonus payable for regular full-time positions only.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of current nursing experience.
- Applicants must not have submitted an application for employment to Johnston Health within the past 12 months.
- Applicants currently employed or employed within the previous 12 months by any owned or managed entity within the UNC Health System are not eligible for the referral bonus.
- You must provide Human Resources with the name of an applicant you are referring by completing an Employee Referral Form, or the applicant may inform Human Resources at the time they submit their application that you have referred them for employment and complete the Referral Acknowledgement Form.
If you would like to refer an experienced Registered Nurse for consideration under this program, complete the Employee Referral Form found on the Intranet under HR forms and submit to HR and have your candidate make us aware you are referring them and complete an employment application.
Relocation assistance
- Up to $10,000 may be offered for RN Clinical Nurse II, III, or IV positions. RN Clinical Nurse I may be offered up to $5,000. Questions should be directed to your recruiter.
Commitment Incentive
Up to $20,000 may be offered to an already licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with at least one year of nursing experience. Associate’s Degree and Advanced Nursing Degree (BSN/MSN) will be commiserate to the Incentive Tables below. The amount offered is based on the degree level, department and years of commitment. An upfront amount of either $2,500 (ADN) or $5,000 (BSN/MSN) will be paid upon hire. Remaining payment is spread over a 3 to 4 year period in 6 to 8 installments. Payment is made after each 6 month period of work is completed.
- Effective for hires starting on or after 6/28/2021.
