Benefits for Veterans in Hospice Care

If you or a loved one served in the military, ask Johnston Health for help accessing end-of-life and health care resources for veterans. Take advantage of these resources before or during home hospice care or a stay at the SECU Hospice House.

Benefits Information

Your family can receive information about support such as:

  • Health care benefits available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
  • Burial benefits, including expense reimbursement and military funeral honors
  • Financial benefits and grief counseling for spouses and children of deceased veterans

Johnston Health can help you access these resources because we participate in the We Honor Veterans program, a partnership between the VA and National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Ceremonies

To honor your veteran, hospice staff provide a personalized certificate listing their branch of the military. If your relative stays at the SECU Hospice House, you’ll notice a U.S. flag and a flag symbolizing their branch of the military outside their room door. Join us in singing “America the Beautiful” when we deliver the flags.
