Healthgrades 2018 Outstanding Patient Experience Award

This distinction recognizes Johnston Health among the top 15 percent of hospitals nationwide, according to Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Healthgrades evaluated 3,478 hospitals that submitted at least 100 patient experience surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), covering admissions from April 2016 to March 2017 to identify hospital performance in this area.


Johnston Health earns Top ‘A’ safety score from Leapfrog Group

Johnston Health has received straight “As” for the second consecutive year in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade. The health care system’s hospitals in Smithfield and Clayton both earned top scores for their work in protecting patients and delivering excellent care.


Johnston Health Designated Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina has designated Johnston Health as one of the first hospitals to receive the Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care designation, a new designation under the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. This program evaluates hospitals on several quality measures, including the percentage of newborns that fall into the category of early elective delivery, an ongoing concern in the medical community.


Johnston Health named one of the top 25 hospitals in NC by BusinessNC Magazine

Johnston Health has made Business North Carolina’s top 25 list for hospitals in the state. The list ranks the state’s adult, acute-care hospitals with at least 50 beds based on performance in 25 metrics. The magazine looks at information provided by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, including patient-satisfaction surveys, infection rates, and readmission and death rates for common conditions and procedures. It also considers criteria from insurer Blue Cross and Blue Shield, U.S. News & World Report and The Leapfrog Group, a Washington, D.C.-based organization that grades hospitals based on patient-safety records.
