The results recognize that these top hospitals play a key role in providing a safety net to communities across America – measuring them across more than 70 different performance metrics, including quality, patient perspective, affordability and efficiency.

Johnston Health receives the 2016 Women’s Choice Award® for Patient Safety

womens choiceJohnston Health has received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety. This evidence-based designation is the only patient safety award that identifies the country’s best health care institutions based on robust criteria that considers female patient satisfaction and clinical excellence. Hospitals that have earned this award have had a low incidence of problems arising from surgical errors and infections.


Johnston Health Designated Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care

BDC_Condensed_Cross_Only_Bariatric_smallBlue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina has designated Johnston Health as one of the first hospitals to receive the Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care designation, a new designation under the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. This program evaluates hospitals on several quality measures, including the percentage of newborns that fall into the category of early elective delivery, an ongoing concern in the medical community.

Johnston Health earns ‘Top Performer’ recognition from The Joint Commission

Johnston Health was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care and perinatal care. Johnston Health is one of only 1,043 hospitals out of more than 3,300 eligible hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2014 Top Performer distinction.

Johnston Health achieves national accreditation for cancer care

The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has granted the health care system a three-year accreditation with commendation for meeting or exceeding 34 quality care standards. The accreditation means that Johnston Health takes a multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer as a complex group of diseases that requires consultation among surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists and other cancer specialists. This multidisciplinary partnership results in improved patient care.
