Clayton Campus Now Open!

Johnston Health Clayton

Just over a year ago, Johnston Health broke ground on what is now the first inpatient hospital in Clayton.

The $50 million expansion at Johnston Health Clayton features a birthing center and nursery among its fifty new inpatient rooms. With the arrival of these facilities, Clayton residents will be able to access affordable, quality maternity care without leaving their community. Additional facilities and services include:

  • A 24-hour emergency department, which is also an accredited chest pain center
  • A fully-equipped imaging center
  • Expanded outpatient care
  • Flat screen TVs and en suite bathrooms in all inpatient rooms
  • A cafeteria, gift shop, chapel, and outdoor courtyard

The new hospital brings much needed health services and a higher level of care to the Clayton community. And its arrival is in large part thanks to our recent partnership with UNC Health Care, whose leaders have fully embraced our vision for improving the quality of life in Clayton.

Thanks so much to our UNC Health Care partners and the Clayton community for making this new campus a reality!

  1. I live less than 3 miles from that hospital. I have been a teacher assistant for over 25 years. I have submitted many applications to work at this and Smithfield hospitals. I wouldn’t have to call in during inclement weather, because I live so close. But they won’t hire you if you don’t know anyone that already works there. I would love to be a patient registra. It’s sad because they are always hiring for those positions. I know I would be a great asset to that hospital.

    • I don’t think it’s fair to say that you have to know someone to be hired Jan. I know several people that work there, and they got their jobs because they were knowledgeable in the area they applied, but because they knew people.

  2. I just read Jans comment above… is this true? Do I really have to know somebody to apply or even be considered for employment? I also live here in Clayton and have10+ years experience in physicians clerical/admin/patient care coordinator positions. Medical office positions are slim to none without traveling to Raleigh/Cary/Durham/Morrisville/Apex/Wake Forest….etc. I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

    • No this is not true. I moved back to the area in August after being away a couple years and was hired without knowing anyone. I have also met many other new co-worker that this is also true for. Good luck with applying:)

    • No, this is not true. I am new to the Smithfield area and I do not know anyone employed by these hospitals and was hired. It is a great place to work and the employers are amazing to work for. Good luck!

  3. They have NO OPENING date for Maternity….. whose bright idea was it not to have staff hired BEFORE you cut the ribbon ?????

  6. Just spent 5 days at the Clayton facility being treated for anemia. I give the facility and stall a 10 out of a possible 10 for their care of my health. It was an outstanding experience and I highly recommend them to anyone needing health care. Every person on the staff was exceptional from the housekeeping to thr Dr stall. Food was good too.
