A new OB/GYN is setting up practice in Clayton. Dr. Jodi Bailey is now seeing patients at her office in the Johnston Professional Plaza on the campus of Johnston Medical Center-Clayton. The practice is an expansion of Johnston OB/GYN in Smithfield, which is now called Triangle Premier Women’s Health.
Bailey recently completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. She earned her medical degree in 2009 from Saint Georges University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Bailey grew up in Wisconsin and lived in Ohio and Georgia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree from Berry College in Mount Berry.
“Since childhood, I had always wanted to be a pediatrician,” she says. “But when I did my rotation in OB/GYN, I fell in love with doing surgery, delivering babies, and caring for women in all stages of their lives.”
Bailey says she and her husband, Troy, liked North Carolina and wanted to live near Raleigh. When a recruiter forwarded her resume to Dr. Siamak Marzbani, the founding partner of the Smithfield practice, he responded right away. It turns out that he and Bailey had an instant connection: They did the same residencies in Detroit—only 28 years apart!
During her residency, Bailey worked with many patients who had high-risk pregnancies. She is also experienced at doing minimally-invasive surgery with the da Vinci robotic system.
