Primary/Family Care

We have three primary care facilities to take care of all your general health needs:

Family Primary Care: Johnston Medical Associates – Clayton

Adult Primary Care: Johnston Medical Associates – Kenly

Internal Medicine: Johnston Medical Associates – Internal Medicine

Our primary care providers, which include doctors and nurse practitioners, deliver a wide range of acute and chronic medical care. In addition to diagnosing and treating illness and injury, we also provide preventive care. This includes routine checkups, health-risk assessments, immunizations, screening tests, and personalized counseling on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Services

Primary care physicians serve as your entry point into the health care system. Some services that we provide include:

  •  Screenings
  • Sports physicals and general physicals
  • Annual checkups
  • Health-risk assessments
  • Immunizations and vaccinations
  • Blood tests
  • Care of chronic conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure
  • Gynecological care including breast exams and PAP smears
  • Reproductive health care including family planning and contraception counseling
  • Treatment of minor illnesses such as colds and the flu

We can also refer you to specialists if more extensive care is needed.

Quality Care

All of our providers are committed to helping you maintain a healthy lifestyle. As a new patient, we will take the time to get to know you and your medical history so we can provide the best possible care to you. We’ll talk with you about your symptoms, prior medical history and other health details, followed by a physical examination. When necessary, you may be administered screening tests and immunizations. We will work with you to create a plan for your care, which may include further testing, specialist referral, medication, therapy, diet or life-style changes, or education. After you leave our office, we will continue to follow up with you to make sure your plan is correctly customized and working well for you.

When choosing a primary care provider, look for a provider who:

  • Is qualified to give quality care
  • Has the training and background that meet your needs
  • Takes steps to prevent illness
  • Encourages you to ask questions
  • Listens to you
  • Explains things clearly
  • Treats you with respect

We are confident that our providers will meet all of these needs, and will deliver high-quality care to you and your family.
