Home Care and Hospice

Hospice House Thumbnail 2Patients are almost always more content and relaxed at home, whether recovering from an injury, coping with physical infirmities, or dealing with a terminal illness. At home, they feel secure with the support of family and friends and are more comfortable surrounded by the memories and possessions they cherish.

Johnston Health Home Care and Hospice is dually licensed for both home care and hospice services. We help patients to recover from illness or injury in the comfort of home and help those with life-limiting illness to have quality time in familiar surroundings with their loved ones.

If receiving care at home is not an option, we can provide 24/7 care in the beautiful setting of our SECU Hospice House.

New Medical Director

Dr. Koffer, Dennis Dennis Koffer, MD, of Triangle East Surgery, started in September 2013 as the medical director for Johnston Health Home Care and Hospice.  He oversees quality of care is part of the multi-disciplinary approach to planning all aspects of patient care.  In his new role, Dr. Koffer looks forward to helping doctors and people in the community better understand the general concept of hospice and, in particular, how the service is paid for by government and private insurers. “The most important thing is communicating so that expectations are met,” he says. “Families have to have a clear understanding of what hospice care means. They have to be ready for it.” Read more.
