J. Alex MacDonald, MD
Before coming to Johnston Health, Dr. MacDonald was the medical director of rehabilitation at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Dr. MacDonald received his medical degree and completed a fellowship in neuro-rehabilitation at Wake Forest University. He finished residencies at Boston and Virginia Commonwealth Universities. He decided to pursue a medical career in neurology after his grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Today, he treats this and other degenerative diseases as well such as Alzheimer’s, stroke and movement disorders. He is also interested in Headache Medicine and Rehabilitation from Neurological injury.
