Imagine being diagnosed with cancer and desperately needing support and information to start your journey to recovery.
Johnston Health is dedicated to providing a supportive, educational and nurturing environment for cancer patients, and we need your help by making a donation to our Art for Hope Campaign.
The Johnston Health Foundation was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the NC Community Foundation to start an education and wellness program for cancer patients at Johnston Health Hematology and Oncology in Smithfield.
This project has brought to light the need to add furnishings and to brighten up the interior of the hematology and oncology center where the education and wellness program will take place. We want this new décor to reflect hope, peace and renewal.
We need your help to make this possible!
The Art for Hope Campaign is an online donation campaign. During the month of August, we ask that you encourage all of your friends, family and neighbors to make a donation.
The donations will go to support efforts to buy original artwork for exam and treatment rooms and to enhance the classroom where patients will participate in wellness activities and educational classes. Donors who give $500 or more will have their names placed next to a painting produced by a Johnston County artist.
Please make a donation right now to help with this project.
“We want our treatment areas to feel refreshing, cheerful and hopeful. Looking at artwork on the walls can provide an escape, a pleasant distraction from the stress that comes with fighting cancer,” said Suzette Rodriguez, Art for Hope Campaign committee chair.
Life changes profoundly after the diagnosis of cancer. Beyond the emotional turmoil that accompanies a cancer diagnosis, patients face a practical necessity – to develop a plan to live with and fight cancer.
The education and wellness program will include classes and access to materials and online resources to help patients understand their illness. The wellness side of the program will include nutrition counseling and cooking demonstrations, water aerobics classes and art therapy.
“Stop for a moment and imagine a room that has refreshing colors and beautiful artwork on the walls. This is what will give patients hope as they begin their journey,” said Jane Lee, Art for Hope Campaign committee member.
Please take the time, right now, and make a donation to the Art for Hope Campaign. You can make a difference today by supporting a project that aids in the healing, recovery and wellness of cancer patients.
You may also donate by cash or check. Please make all checks payable to the Johnston Health Foundation and send to:
