Are you looking for new opportunities, additional experience or just like to lend a helping hand? Johnston Health would love to speak with you regarding our expansive volunteering program.

Our mission is to improve the health of the people in our communities. We’ve invested $144 million in new equipment and buildings, including a five-story patient tower in Smithfield and a medical center in Clayton. And with your help, we can continue to grow and flourish.

Did you know that roughly 64.3 million people volunteered through or for an organization at least once between September 2010 and September 2011? Volunteers truly do make the difference. Johnston Health offers rewarding volunteer experiences to help better the community-at-large. From helping our staff to keeping children entertained, volunteers work in nearly all areas of the hospital and may choose to work at either Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield or at our location in Clayton. Note that Johnston Medical Center in Clayton does not offer evening volunteer hours.

Not a people person? No problem — volunteers can choose between direct, limited and no patient interaction. We accept applications for adult, junior and chaplain volunteers.

If you are an adult (18 or older) interested in becoming a Johnston Health volunteer, go here and fill out our application, then fax the completed form to 919-938-7914 or mail to:

Though the junior volunteer application period is over for this season, we are eager for fresh new faces to apply to our Summer 2013 Junior Volunteer Program. Limited positions will be available. Junior volunteer applicants need to answer two essay questions and produce a letter of recommendation from someone outside their family. Additional junior volunteer application guidelines may be found here.

Are you qualified to give spiritual care? We would love to hear from you. You may download our chaplain volunteer application here.

Want to give, but have limited time to volunteer? Johnston Health also accepts donations for the Johnston Health Foundation.
